If you are a well established cacher or considering this intriguing new hobby, you will want to be at Staring Lake Park in Eden Prairie, MN this Saturday, Oct 16th for the MnGCA Fall Event and Elections.
As outlined in their mission statement, MnGCA works hard year round to provide a resource for Minnesota geocachers to organize activities and events that will improve the credibility of the sport, protect our natural resources and strengthen the community of geocachers in the state of Minnesota.
This year's Fall event will do all that and more!
The activities will last from 9:30am until 5:00pm with a number of prizes, games, and contests. MnGCA has made special effort to create a kid-friendly atmosphere by hosting the event in a kid-friendly park as well as offering kid/family games and kid caches. Bring the whole family and participate in:
- Voting for the most creative cache container
- Guess What's in the PB Jar!
- Geo-golf (closest match to the actual final coordinates of the virtual "cup")
- Kid's Treasure Hunt in the sand volleyball courts.
- Medallion Hunt and FTF Hangman Game (fun for both seasoned geocachers as well as letterboxers, medallion hunters and newbies!)
You can also listen in to the LIVE episode of the Twin Cities Geocaching podcast that will be broadcast from on-site at 11:30am.
But for anyone interested in just learning more about geocaching, this is the perfect opportunity to partner up with any number of experienced groups that will surely be exploring the park to find the 7 permanent caches. The Twin Cities caching crew is a very friendly crowd and would love to help you make your first find!
There's even rumor of a cache made especially for our canine family members.
When you've worked up an appetite, MnGCA is providing burgers from Noon to 1:00pm and just asks that you consider bringing a side dish or beverage to share.
At 2:00pm will be the MnGCA meeting and elections. Here you will hear about the current happenings of MnGCA and how they are helping continue to improve geocaching in our state. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the association and find out ways you can get involved. Note: only MnGCA members can participate in the election voting.
