Open Road releases trailer for "Nightcrawler"

Open Road Films has released the debut trailer for the upcoming crime thriller "Nightcrawler." The film features Jake Gyllenhaal as an aspiring reporter who finds himself entangled in the gritty, underground world of freelance crime journalism in Los Angeles. The trailer provides an intense first look at "Nightcrawler," in which Gyllenhaal's Lou Bloom proves that he is willing to do whatever it takes to get the story and to get the job done. No trailer would be complete without car crashes, dead bodies, gun violence, and all around general mayhem, and "Nightcrawler" does not disappoint on any of those elements. Despite all that action and tension, it is the final few seconds of the trailer that show off just how thrilling and creepy this movie has the potential to be.

"Nightcrawler," which was filmed in Los Angeles, is the directorial debut for writer Dan Gilroy, who has a few previous story and screenwriting credits under his belt. His most recent credit is 2012's "The Bourne Legacy," which he co-wrote with his brother Tony. Gilroy has also been tapped as the writer for next year's "Stan Lee's Annihilator."

In addition to Gyllenhaal, the film also stars Bill Paxton, Gilroy's wife Rene Russo, and rapper/actor Riz Ahmed.

Moviegoers will have the chance to see "Nightcrawler" when it arrives in theaters on October 17, following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Fans of thrillers, Jake Gyllenhaal, and terrifying eyes have a lot to look forward to.
