Would you like to send your child to a different public school than your neighborhood school? Do you believe that he will benefit more by attending the other school? But in accordance with the district policy, your child should be attending your neighborhood school. So, what do you do in this situation?
For those who would like to enroll their kids in a school other than their neighborhood school, the district offers an option. This option is presented as “Open Enrollment” for a limited period of time every year. During this period, the parents can apply for admission to other schools in the district for the following year. If a large number of students apply for enrollment in a particular school, the admission is given based on the lottery system. The open enrollment period for the 2013–2014 School Year is from Monday, January 14, 2013 through Friday, February 15, 2013 (closes at 4:00 p.m).
The schools open for Open Enrollment are as follows:
- Cherry Crest
(Open ONLY for a limited number of Kindergarten students)
- Phantom Lake
1 in /1 out
- Lake Hills
- Sherwood Forest
- Cherry Crest
- Clyde Hill
- Newport Heights
