Would you like to send your child to a different public school than your neighborhood school? Do you believe that he will benefit more by attending the other school? But in accordance with the district policy, your child should be attending your neighborhood school. So, what do you do in this situation?
For those who would like to enroll their kids in a school other than their neighborhood school, the district offers an option. This option is presented as โOpen Enrollmentโ for a limited period of time every year. During this period, the parents can apply for admission to other schools in the district for the following year. If a large number of students apply for enrollment in a particular school, the admission is given based on the lottery system. The open enrollment period for the 2013โ2014 School Year is from Monday, January 14, 2013 through Friday, February 15, 2013 (closes at 4:00 p.m).

- Obtain an Open Enrollment Application form from any BSD school or the Student Placement Office (see address above). Call 425-456-4200 if you have questions.
- Upon completion, applications may be returned to your home school or mailed to:

Bellevue, WA 98009-9010. - Siblings of students open enrolled in a school will be allowed to open enroll in that same school, provided the older sibling will be attending at the time of the initial attendance of the younger sibling.
- Whenever the number of applicants exceeds the available transfer spaces at a particular grade level in a school, a lottery will be conducted after the close of the Open Enrollment period.
