Currently in its 12th year, OPEN DOORS, Newark’s premiere open studio walkthrough, will be taking place on October 11 - 20, 2013. An ‘open studio’ is an event, widely popular in other art hubs like New York, that allows the public a unique glimpse into the working studios spaces of artists, artists in residence and gallery spaces all around Newark. Independent artists, literally, open their doors and allow visitors to walk through their spaces, ask questions, see work in progress and galleries all around the Newark area will hold specially curated exhibits and events to bring awareness to the art being made in the local community. This non-juried, non-competitive approach encourages all artists and art enthusiasts to come together to enjoy the cultural and creative diversity of Newark’s bustling art scene.
Along with open studios, concerts, cultural parades, festivals, and an endless string of parties at various locations are to be expected. And, shuttle service will be available to transport individuals to and from many locations to different events.
OPEN DOORS begins with its annual ‘Gallery Crawl’ at 6pm on October 11th.
