The floods washed out 200 miles of road and caused extensive damaged to property in several counties along the St. Vrain and Big Thompson rivers. While road crews work to restore access to isolated communities, cyclist will have to wait to access many of the local trails.
Closed trails include: Heil Valley Ranch, Hall Ranch including Picture Rock, Walker Ranch, Mud Lake, The Dot Trails, Betasso, most of Doudy Draw, East Boulder and East Boulder County, Most of Marshal Mesa, Middle County Trails from Miller Rock to Chapman Drive and all of the Jamestown loops.
Open trails include: West Magnolia, Rabbit Mountain, Parts of Marshall Mesa, some high country off Highway 72 (South St. Vrain trail, Buchanan Pass trail, Wapiti trail), three East Boulder and East Boulder County trails (Cotton Wood, Teller Farms, Niwot), parts of Doudy Draw and the Boulder Valley Ranch/Reservoir loops.
Even though the trails are open they are damaged in spots. Riders should obey all the signs and proceed with caution, according to the Boulder Mountain Bike website.
