The government is now in its second week, and so far there are not signs of it ending.
Members of both parties are probably frustrated with these events, and still there has been no progress or compromise on either side.
For citizens, too, the government shutdown is also frustrating. National parks and monuments are not just a part of our country, but as Americans, these attractions are part of who we are. The Statue of Liberty, for example, represents the dreams of millions who entered this country and are therefore an integral part of who we are. They should be opened for people to enjoy each day, and this shutdown is causing people to miss out on the experience.
Furthermore, it is extremely unfair for government employees to be put out of work during this time because politicians cannot come up with a solution for our nation's problems.
Americans elect the politicians to office, which means that we are responsible for them having their job. They are put into office to solve our national, regional, and local problems. If they cannot do their job, the job we elected them to do, then perhaps we should put them all out of work.
