Ooh la la, a French party, live music, and comic theater await

Make plans this weekend for August's upcoming interactive arts activities.

The annual Alliance Française de Chicago celebration is back with a French Riviera Music Party on Friday, August 26 at 54 West Chicago Avenue. From 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, guests will enjoy DJ Madrid Perry and Sadie Woods mixing Chicago house beats with French music, French food, punch, and a drawing to win free French language courses. Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for non-members. Logan Sqaure’s music, art and bookstore saki (3716 West Fullerton) is hosting a number of free musical events this month. Unplugged and Reborn with Kaleidoscope perform on Saturday, August 13 at 4:00 pm; Rich Crook with Tyler Jon Tyler play on Sunday, August 14 at 3:00 pm; and Orca Team with Magic Milk and Whales are slated for Sunday, August 28. On Friday, August 19, there is a Chicago Guitarist Meet-Up at 6:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring their guitar and play a song. For more information, call 773-486-3997.

Raven Theatre’s West Stage on 6157 North Clark is offering a comedy doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, August 26 and 27.

At 8:30 pm, Wiggerlover [whiteboy+blackdad=greyareas] follows actor/author James Anthony Zoccoli’s personal account of his life growing up as a half-Italian, half-Polish kid who wants to be all African-American. Tickets to the one-man show (which is accompanied by a live DJ and includes family pictures and other visual elements) are $20.

At 11:00 pm, The Game Show Show... & Stuff takes over. This live, interactive variety game show gives away prizes to randomly-selected audience members all over the city. Tickets are $25.
