This weekend is getaway time for fall festivals and events in resort destinations north of Toronto. A number of featured events with activities such as artist studio tours, fall harvest fairs, a worm rodeo, First Nations Pow Wow, and a rural ramble road trip. Orillia Ontario Fall Fair Celebrates 100 Years of 4H in Canada
September 6-8, 2013: This fair and festival will feature displays, vendors, competitions, and educational booths and a Kids Korner, with
“Catto” Petting Zoo/PonyRides. Kids will also take part in a Mini Pedal Tractor Pull. 4H members are honoured and on display. Visitors will see the talents and creations of students, farmers, gardeners, photographers, artists, crafters, culinary experts and livestock owners and handlers. Georgian Bay Native Friendship Centre 12th Annual Pow Wow
September 7-8, 2013: This annual Pow Wow is presented at Sainte-Marie Park, near Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, by the Georgian Bay Native Friendship Centre. Sainte-Marie Park is off Highway 12 and the Wye Valley Road, just east of Midland. The “Grand Entry”, which signals the official opening of the Pow Wow, is at 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 p.m. on Sunday. Eagle staffs and flags will be presented with the entry of the dancers with the circle. The Flag song, Veteran’s song, Opening Prayer, and Welcome happens at this time. Ottawa Valley Rural Ramble
September 1 - October 31, 2013: The Rural Ramble is organized by the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association (OVTA) and is a traditional self-guided driving tour throughout the Ottawa Valley featuring four themes: Adventure & Exploration, Agriculture & Food, History & Heritage and Arts & Culture. The 2013 Rural Ramble is a free online event, running from September 1st to October 31st. Rural Ramblers’ will be able to customize their own autumn touring experiences. Worm Rodeo Country Fun Fair
Sat. Sept. 7, 2013: Where the Country Meets the City at Highway 11 & Highway 93 just north of Barrie. 'Grace United Church' and 'Seniors Wish Barrie' are bringing families a day of Worm Rodeo fun on Sept. 7 at Chappell Farms.
