The Golf Channel Amateur Tour took on Drumm Farm Golf Club in Independence, Mo. on Sunday June 29. The championship course is an 18-hole par 72 that measures from 5,110 yards on the forward tees to 7,121 yards on the tour tees. Drumm Farm also features a nine hole executive course.
Matt Heitman of St. Joseph, Mo. was the only player to enter into the Championship Flight and shot a nine over par 81 for first place. Don Karl of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Michael Main of Kearney, Neb. were the only two players in the Palmer Flight. Karl took first place at eight over par 70 and Main finished in second at nine over par 81.
In the Hogan Flight Mark Stacer of Overland Park, Kan. and Brian Taylor of Kansas City, Kan. finished at four over par 76. Stacer went on to win the playoff to finish in first place, giving Taylor a second place finish. Steve Green from Independence, Mo. finished in third place with an eight over par 80. The Senior Hogan Flight ended with Tim Leonberger of Shiloh, Ill. finishing in first place at three over par 75. Timothy Wilcoxon of Lenexa, Kan. finished in second place with a nine over par round and Bill Wirtz of Maryland Heights, Mo. finished one stroke back of Wilcoxon at 10 over par for third place.
Kansas City, Mo. resident Jesse Montgomery finished in first place in the Sarazen Flight posting an 11 over par 83. Nathan Holden of Raymore, Mo. finished in second place at 12 over par and third place went to Wallace Stine from Lee’s Summit, Mo. at 14 over par. Garry Mayhugh of Shawnee, Kan. finished in first place in the Senior Sarazen Flight posting a 12 over par 84. Second place went to Kansas City, Mo. resident Vernon Livergood at 18 over par and at 20 over par Kerry Jones of Excelsior Springs, Mo. finished in third place.
The Jones Flight resulted in Ron Elliott of Olathe, Kan. taking first place at 16 over par 88. David Miller from Prairie Village, Kan. finished one stroke back at 17 over par for second place. Shooting 32 over par 104 Edward York of Gardner, Kan. finished in third place.
