Only 2 days left to nominate volunteers for scholarships

Kohl’s Department Stores will soon be awarding the Kohl’s Cares Scholarships. The program, which is set to award more than $425,000 in scholarships and prizes, will be ending at 11:59 Central time on March 15, 2013. More than 2,300 youth who have volunteered their time to serve their community will be receiving awards ranging from $50 Kohl’s gift cards up to $10,000 scholarships.

Anyone over the age of 21 may nominate a student between the ages of six and 18 by clicking here. Nominations are accepted between February 1 and March 15, 2013. Two nominees from each of the 1,100 Kohl’s Department Store areas will receive $50 gift cards. Over 200 will win regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward post-secondary education. A very lucky ten people will be awarded $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education. In addition, Kohl’s will also donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on behalf of each of the national winners!

This is Kohl’s 13th year of recognizing young volunteers. Since the beginning of the program Kohl’s has recognized over 17,000 students and awarded more than $3.4 million in scholarships and prizes. Kohl’s focus is on improving the lives of children through health and education initiatives as well as fundraising gift cards for schools and youth serving organizations.

When nominating someone, Kohl’s webmaster recommends using Internet Explorer 7 or 8 or Firefox 3.5 or higher. More than one person may nominate a student however only the first nomination submitted will count. However adults may nominate more than one student. Kids who have won on the store level in previous years may be nominated again this year; however anyone who has won on the regional or national level is ineligible to be nominated again. Employees of Kohl’s or ACT, Inc. and their immediate families are not eligible.

Store level winners will be notified in May 2013, regional winners will be notified in June 2013, and the national winners will receive notification in July 2013. Anyone not receiving a prize or scholarship will not be notified.
