Only 19% believe the House cap and trade bill will help the economy

Rasmussen reports that only 19% believe the Waxman-Markey cap and trade tax climate change legislation the House passed last week will help the economy, but 42% say it will hurt the U.S. economy.

A majority of both Republicans (56%) and Independents (52%) think the bill will hurt the economy.

Among Democrats, 30% say it will help the economy.

Just like polling on bailouts, tea parties, and immigration, Rasmussen found a telling divide between divide between Mainstream America and the Political Class on cap and trade:

Fifty percent (50%) of Mainstream Americans say the climate control measure will hurt the economy, but two-thirds of the Political Class (67%) say it will help.

How can our leaders be that out of touch with their constituents?

"How can our leaders be that out of touch with their constituents?"

Perhaps the question should be - How can 19% of the people be that stupid? Nobody with a brain thinks this bill will help the economy.

    It's truly astounding.

Lies, manipulation, intimidation and bribes were used to force the House to pass Obama’s economy killing bill! House members were not given time even to read the bill!

Obama and his accomplices thus trampled on our human right to be represented and defended by our Legislative body.

Obama’s Cap and trade is another giant step towards Marxism — and the corruption, poverty, enslavement, destruction and despair that Marxism entails.

Obama is working much faster than Hugo Chavez at destroying the economy and imposing Marxism. No wonder the Russians are gloating:

From Pravda: “…the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people…”

We must do whatever is necessary to defend ourselves and our children from from Obama and his accomplices.

You are right, Jeff Id. It’s hard to believe that anyone would believe in the global warming/climate change fairy tale! Obama and his accomplices obviously don’t believe it. They are ready to let companies emit CO2 as long as they pay! Some of the “dumbed down” U.S. population (as per Pravda), however, are ready to kill the economy to “stop global warming”!

When it became evident that the earth was not warming, Obama and his accomplices came out with “climate change,” which made the hoax even more ridiculous! Even the words "climate change" are NONSENSE. By its very nature, climate changes. The climate on earth has ALWAYS CHANGED and will continue to CHANGE, no matter what we do.

And it’s even more absurd to claim that humans are responsible for climate change! It's like saying "Wet Rain" and then blaming humans for rain being wet! No matter what we do, rain will always be wet!

Hopefully the senate will kill it and it will go away. Wait a minute Frankenstein just got elected senator for MN. Maybe it does have a chance of passing??

jeff...well said...the 19% think it will help the economy because obama said so...they do not look into things...just blind trust in our government...I fear this bill will pass...because it is becoming apparent that the senate and the house dont give a crap what the people want....Only what the elites want and what whoever wants that will give them the most money. I believe the system will have to totally fail for this to all come to an end. Oh yeah and I was blocked for using "inappropriate language" where is my freedom of speech?
