Online trends for 2014

PR Web recently forecasted three (3) of their top trends in online/social media for 2014. We agree with them whole-heartedly! Some of these may be new to you; while some may not. From our experience; these trends are usually lined up with the fastest growing results oriented mediums, at the time. No matter how you see it, online media/social media continues to grow, improving the way that advertisers can effectively reach their target audiences.

For us advertising and marketing professionals; this makes our online jobs so much easier when seeking a successful R.O.I. (return on investment) and measurable results.

Below, check out a few of the trends to look out for:

Social Media Niche - Snapchat is a great example of niche social media. The site offers new ways to reach customers this year. Here's how it works; Snapchat is a photo messaging application. With the app, users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, then send them to a list of recipients. Users set a time limit of how long recipients can view their Snaps; after-which, they are hidden from the recipient's device and deleted from Snapchat's servers. This is great for those who are worried about their "business being all over the internet!"

Location-Based Targeting - Advertisers are encouraged to localize their content more in 2014. After localizing content; it's personal and relevant to each of your customers. They also suggested that advertisers build location services into their app to cater content and search results to each user’s exact location. This looks a lot like geo-targeting on steriods! Location-Based Targeting also opens the door for so many more promotional opportunities...

Mobile - For many years, we've been instructed to get involved with mobile marketing and advertising. PR Web reported that more than one billion people own smartphones worldwide, with 143 million of them residing in the United States. With that in mind; the price point is extremely low when attempting to reach large portions of the population. Also, for numbers driven savvy marketers, advertisers and agencies; this is a great way to get online advertising dollars and show impressive metrics. Businesses are encouraged to design and/or adapt their websites for an optimized mobile and tablet experience in the coming year.

This is very valuable information for businesses and Artist looking to improve and/or build their brand, to create awareness and to interact with their target audience plus more! As the New Year approaches; take the time needed to research who you want to reach and build a road map on how you will get to them. Most importantly..... stick to it in 2014! Success comes when opportunity meets preparation!
