Online pharmacies in the Phillipines are an easy method of obtaining drugs of abuse, and may well be selling death with just a few clicks of a mouse.

The recent death of a university researcher may bear this out.

Carrie John, 29,  was a research scientist at the University of Maryland studying of all things, drug addiction. She was found dead after injecting an unknown substance in thought to be buprenorphine. Apparently, an allergic reaction ensued to whatever was in the syringe. With her at the time of death was boyfriend Clinton McCracken. Both Carrie and McCracken were pharmacologists doing brain research at the University of Maryland.

Buprenorphine is a drug used to treat opiate addicts and is prescribed by physicians certified to treat opioid dependent persons on an outpatient basis.

Her live in boyfriend, Clinton McCracken, also an addict, and research scientist, was ordering the drug overseas in the Phillipines, as well as OxyContin, and morphine. McCracken also liked to smoke marijuana, and actually grew the plants in their Dover street house.

No one had a clue about the activities of these 2 Ph.D. scientists and their secret lives behind closed doors. None of their friends were ever invited in to John and McCracken's house. Never once did they raise a suspicion about drug use.

The drugs obtained from the Phillipines from an online pharmacy must have contained something other than what these 2 researchers thought. If what she used was in fact from the Phillipines as her boyfriend stated. Carrie had a reaction shortly after injecting the substance, and McCracken never got a chance to shoot the drug up because of Carries' reaction, or he may have suffered the same fate.

Scott Calvert of the Baltimore Sun stated "Why, given the obvious perils, would they use opiates when they knew exactly how the drugs affect the brain? And why risk injecting themselves with drugs bought online? The federal government says online drug marts are part of a global network peddling dangerously unreliable goods."

McCracken has been charged with the the marjuana plants discovered by police when the incident went down, leaving those around them mystified as to how these very bright, and learned scientists could have fallen into this type of behavior knowing the consequences of their actions if they did so.

The point here is that these drugs are easily obtained via online pharmacies, and you have absolutely no idea what is being shipped contains the drug ordered, or is some montrous concoction mixed up in bathtub, dirty ring still present no doubt, and then pressed into pills.

This is just one example of how easy it might be to obtain medication online, and isn't suggesting that this outfit is illegal, but laws regulating this activity differ from country to country, so it is important to know. Of course, those obtaining these drugs for purposes of getting high probably aren't concerned about how illegal it may be, they just want the drugs. In the case of Carrie John, and Clinton McCracken, they found out the hard way. Carrie is dead, and John under indictment. Their friends and co-workers called these two scientists brilliant. In the field of substance abuse, Carrie and Clinton took their research further than the parameters called for, and it cost one of them their life, and the other the possibility of prison, and ruined careers. However, no one is immune from drug addiction no matter how well informed you might be.

Had anyone noticed something out of the ordinary with these researchers, they could have intervened to save them from themselves, but Carrie and Clinton hid their activities well. The behavior costing them dearly, and their families dearly.
