It's still a little early and we don't have official word yet on exactly what will be available with the configurations of Paul McCartney's new "New" CD to be released in mid-October for the single that was released at midnight ET Aug. 29, but online merchants already have a few links out there for advance ordering. It's clear, though, that more are to come and many that are there are missing descriptions and track names.
But here's an early shopping guide based on what's online now: The “New” single is available on iTunes (which also lets you order the album). Links for the regular CD version of the album are on Amazon.com and Amazon.ca (Canada). Also available on Amazon.co.uk is something called a “Mint Pack,” but this may be nothing more than the regular CD since a Deluxe Edition is listed separately. The configuration of the Japanese CD has not been confirmed, but Japanese versions usually have some sort of extras, from inserts to extra tracks.
We'll print updated information on options for "New" when they're available.
Meanwhile, a humorous poll at the Steve Hoffman Forum started early this morning with too many choices (though allowing multiple votes) on whether and how people are planning to buy the new album has, at this writing, 28 votes saying "I'm a McCartney 'completist' - DONE - it's bought!" leading the responses and 3 actually saying they wouldn't if the single reflects the album. Can't please everyone, I guess.
