Online Gaming: Protect your computer while playing

With so many college students getting more and more involved in the "online world" of games, social media sites, and music, a problem with security and privacy has risen to the top.  What do you do if your information is not as well protected as previously thought?

Enter AVG PC Tuneup.  A company that has partnered with many of the big gaming sites, and most recently founded a partnership with the extermely popular game, "Farmville."

A press release was issued with notes containing everything from use, to pricing, to some hints on what makes "Farmville" just so much fun.

As part of AVG Technologies efforts to help folks navigate and entertain themselves safely while on the internet, we’re announcing an exciting partnership with Zynga, developers of the popular social game, FarmVille, which I thought you might like to share with readers. After all, 54 percent of today’s online gaming community is made up of females… not too surprising, we all need breaks from our everyday lives!

The partnership offers a weeklong promotion that will enable Farmville’s 34 million players to download a one-year, one-user license to AVG PC Tuneup for just $9.99, a third of the regular price. With PC TuneUp, you can eliminate your computer from freezing and crashing, recover accidentally deleted files and speed up your internet connection. Great conditions for virtual farming!

To further your farming luck, AVG is also offering a limited Biplane crop duster that includes three applications of Instant Grow to use on any crop of your choice. So not only are you protecting your computer but you’re also growing your farm – instantly.

If you’d like, you could also share this video which highlights why Farmville is so addicting:

Not sure if you’re a Farmville fanatic? Here are some fun tell-tale signs:

1. You’ve set the FarmVille theme tune as your ringtone.

2. Important dates are now referenced by FarmVille goodies (Cupid’s Castle anyone?).

3. When out with friends you start planning your own farms.

4. You start spreading fertilizer on your own vegetable patch on a far too regular basis...

5. You identify real trees by comparing them to FarmVille trees.

6. You’re getting up extra early just to sneak in a quick harvest before work/school.

7. You have made more NEW friends by playing FarmVille.

8. You set alarms to remind you when to harvest.

9. You find yourself admiring real crops when you drive past them.

10. You then find yourself working out how many XP and coins you’d gain by harvesting them!
