Twelve Oaks, the reported haunted plantation is having an online auction according to The Mississippi Press. On July 16, many visitors came to take photos of antiques that they were interested in and others came to swap ghost stories with each other.
Twelve Oaks is located in Gautier, Miss. The house is in foreclosure, and the auction company Taylor Auction and Reality Inc is selling the plantation's antique contents. The auction is an online auction only. The plantation is also for sale, the list price of the home is $725,000.
Visitors came and scanned the more than 290 antique items that are on sale online. The home was opened Wednesday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for bidders to inspect the items.
Some of the items that are being sold are walnut furniture, various art pieces, Pier mirrors, and any other things.
Twelve Oaks was built by Henry Gautier, the founding father of the city. The home was built in the late 1800s. The historical home is said to be haunted by at least four spirits. Some of those spirits that are said to haunt the home are of a man that has been seen climbing the steps, a young blond-haired girl has been reportedly seen, and an elderly woman with white hair, that sits by the den window has been said to be haunting the place.
The auctioneer Benny Taylor said that online bidding will end July 24, and the auction winners will be able to pick up their antiques on July 26-27. He also stressed about the antiques and how it was an "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to buy such an large assortment of period antiques.
