Online 2012 State of the Union address provides enhanced experience

All eyes will be on Washington D.C. Tuesday night as President Barack Obama delivers his third State of the Union Address.  While the address can be seen on television and online at various outlets, on the White House State of the Union web page in addition to the President’s speech, the viewer will be treated to various enhancements, providing a more complete viewing experience.   

The 2012 State of the Union address will start Tuesday night at approximately 9:00 pm EST. 

The online enhanced address will contain various charts, statistics and other factual data which support the words of the President and his policies.  This is the second year that the White House has provided an enhanced version of the State of the Union address online. 

In addition to watching the enhanced version of the State of the Union address, other extras on the site include:

  • A listing of the guests sitting in First Lady Michelle Obama’s Box.
  • Videos of President Obama’s 2010 and 2011 State of the Union addresses
  • A section listing “Signs on Progress in 2011”
  • Information on how to follow Twitter and Facebook discussions
  • An opportunity following the speech to ask a panel of experts questions 
  • A schedule for the remainder of the week on special events surrounding the speech, including panel discussions and
  • A link for viewers to submit questions on YouTube to President Obama for a special Google+ Hangout session to be held on January 30.
