One year since Newtown shooting and still no full background checks

See also

It has been one year exactly since the murders by a deranged and mentally ill gunman of young school kids at Sandy Hook grade school in Newtown, Connecticut. After that horrific shooting the American public (and still is) strongly supportive of increased gun control. Some polls showed over 90% support for full background checks on all gun sales in the U.S.

What stopped that of course was the power, influence and money of the NRA, an organization paranoid that if there are any gun control laws whatsoever, then President Obama will steal their guns during the dead of night.

Absurd, fantasy yes, but a reason why shootings like Newtown or less infamous killings that happen every day on the streets of America (a large product of our war on drugs) will continue.
