In two weeks, it'll be one year from when I started my treatment for breast cancer (the day before my 41st birthday). On March 22, I'll be turning 42 (where does the time go?) and hopefully breast cancer will be behind me. I certainly learned a lot from this cancer journey and I'm very happy to be here. Being diagnosed caused me to begin a legacy project of books (http://www.examiner.com/article/wake-up-call-a-22-books-and-counting-legacy) with an outlandish goal of publishing 22. I've just finished writing two longer books on my cancer experience and will be working on the fourth book, (a cancer workbook) in The Cancer Path Series (see more www.thecancerpath.com ). These three books are due out by May 2013. I'll be donating 25 free cancer books to cancer libraries throughout the country so that women will have free access to this information and it will hopefully ease their way. So, with these cancer books, that's 10.
Plus, I've taken the dating advice articles I've written over the past four years and made compilations into two ebooks, which will be out in April. So, look for: "Dating Advice from Hi to I Do" and "70 + Inexpensive NYC Date Ideas," which will bring this book legacy to 12 books! I'll also be publishing a DVD called "Mars Women Relationship Meditations" next month, to accompany my book.
So, in a bit more than a year I'll be more than half-way through my book legacy goal. It has been a lot of fun. I've found that when you are really passionate about something, nothing can stop you.
Many people have said that I should write one book a year and really market each one. This makes sense because the book would be more successful with that kind of focus, it would make money and if I wanted to use a traditional publisher later (which I probably would like to do at some point) the sales numbers won't be small (since I've been just popping out books and then moving to the next one). Intellectually, I know this makes sense, but on a spiritual level these books just wanted to come through me now, without a focus on results. I know that once they are out, there's no time limitation on how or when people can find them. And this makes me happy. They're free to roam the planet and do their work.
I have learned to define success from the inside out this year. It means sharing what I love and living aligned with my soul's purpose, now.
I hope this post makes you think about where you want to express yourself more fully and what holds you back. Is it expectation, results, conventional wisdom, limitations, fear, lack of time or resources? In the end, most things boil down to love or fear. Which do you choose and where can you come alive, today?
