'tis the season for "food weeks" in the DC-metropolitan area.
Just a few weeks after DC Meat Week (Reference: The rules and ribs of DC Meat Week 2013 | DC Tapas) and in the wake of DC Winter Restaurant Week (Reference: Food for frugal foodies! DC Restaurant Week: Winter 2013 | DC Cheap Eats), comes DC Meat-Free Week -- presented by The Kindness Collective and Compassion Over Killing.
Talk about perfect timing! If you went a little over-board with DC Meat Week and have cruel and carnivorous intentions with Restaurant Week, now's a good time to "detox" from all the meat-eating you've been doing lately.
Starting today and ending on Monday, February 11th, the fourth annual DC Meat-Free Week is full of guilt-free food, dessert and beverage. There are several meatless events (parties, classes, etc.) going on. Some require RSVP to attend. Check the Meat-Free Week schedule for details.
**The Kindness Collective works at the intersection of human and animal welfare, striving to improve the lives of all beings through initiatives encouraging plant-based diets and other acts of compassion.
**Working to end animal abuse since 1995, Compassion Over Killing exposes cruelty to farmed animals and promotes vegetarian eating as a way to build a kinder world.
One week.
No meat.
Until we eat again...
