Need information about grants, government contracts and other programs for your small business? We know just the place to go…..The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) (www.maricopasbdc.com) in the newly remodeled Phoenix Center at Gateway Community College can be a one-stop-shop for all this.
A grand opening for the center will be held Tuesday August 27 from 1 until 5 p.m. The event includes tours of the facility, descriptions of programs, new innovative training programs and testimonials from Phoenix small business owners who have used the SBDC services. The event is open to the community.
The center is located on the Gateway campus directly across from light rail. The main office includes the Fahrenheit Lab, the state’s first business incubator for community college students. It also includes a state of the art training facility and several new offices for business counselors. A revamped website allows all Phoenix business owners’ access to experts to support and answer questions.
The SBDC works with local and national partners with intimate knowledge of small business programs. They help with grants for international expansion as well as how to get a free website from Google.
The new facility results from several community partners working together, including the Maricopa Community Colleges, Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation at Gateway Community College, the new Corporate College at Maricopa Community College, the SBA and the National SBDC Network.
“The new downtown location is closer to our community partners and allows us to better serve our clients, the Phoenix business owners,” states Cope Norcross, SBDC director.
