One man was shot to death, another beaten and a woman struck by a stray bullet in an incident that happened outside a sports bar early Monday morning in south Fulton County.
So far, police have not been able to identify the shooter or confirm there was only one suspect.
The incident happened around 2:45 a.m. in the parking lot of the 50 Yardline sports bar at 7490 Old National Hwy., according to Fulton County police.
Investigators said one of the victims, Mr. Terry Rankins, got into an argument inside the bar with the suspect. But then they left, and seemed to go their separate ways.
“The next thing you know, shots rang out and he was shot in the abdomen,” police spokesman Sgt. Scott McBride said.
Mr. Rankins, 24, of Stockbridge, died a short time later, Sgt. McBride said.
Ms. Mia Thomas, 27, of Stockbridge, was struck in the leg by a stray bullet during the shooting and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where she remained late Monday in stable condition.
At some point, another victim, Mr. Ountus Wooten, 31, of Atlanta, was also beaten, Sgt. McBride said. But he did not know what object was used in the assault or whether the crime was committed by the same perpetrator.
Mr. Wooten was also transported to Grady in stable condition, Sgt. McBride said.
The sports bar is in a strip shopping center at the intersection of Old National Highway and Jonesboro Road.
