One resolution to keep

Another year winding down. As we reflect on what 2012 has brought, we begin writing our resolutions for 2013. In the top 5 for many people - find a new job.

You want to go further. You want to be rewarded - and appreciated. You want to have a voice. You want to make an impact. All good resolutions; but do you know how? This may sound selfish, but think of yourself coming into 2013, and not just in the beginning of the year either. Think of yourself as the person who deserves that interview; the person that deserves that job or promotion. The person that the company needs to get the job done right. You may have the experience, the education, the references. Do you believe that you can do it?

You see, confidence is stong. Hiring managers can spot confidence down the hall and around the corner. If you actually get the interview but slump in your seat and not speak confidently of your abilities, you just wasted 60 minutes of your life that you will never get back.Walk the walk and talk the talk. If you want this, act like it. Don't be afraid to brag. If you don't talk about what you've done, how is anyone supposed to know?

Remember when your mother told you not to slouch, put your shoulders back and hold your head high? Live this everyday. You deserve this interview. You deserve this job.

Here's to a confident 2013.
