A strong to severe line of storms moved into Western Mississippi, just before noon and swept east across the state with damaging winds and possible tornadoes, with Northern Mississippi, receiving the brunt of the severe weather.

One person was killed after a possible tornado tore through parts of Washington County- just before noon, destroying 3 mobile homes and damaging 15 others, one mile south of the town of Wayside.  Large trees were also blown down. (EF-1 tornado confirmed)

A tornado was reported on the ground, Friday afternoon in Monroe County, with at least one home damaged and a barn was destroyed with numerous trees and power lines blown down.

Possible tornadoes blew over a large shed and damaged awnings in Sunflower County and damaged several house roofs in Chickasaw County, with numerous trees and power lines downed.

A funnel cloud was reported in Grenada County, where shingles were torn off of homes, with numerous trees blown down, Friday afternoon.

  • A 18 wheeler truck was blown over on Interstate 55, with numerous trees and power lines blown down in Tate County
  • The roof was blown off a home in Duck Hill in Montgomery County
  • The roof was blown off a  shed in Pontotoc County
  • Tree blown down on a house,  Irrigation Pivot System blown over,  and a roof and mobile home was damaged in Bolivar County (EF-0 tornado confirmed)
  • Tree down on a house in Grenada County
  • Estimated winds of at least 60 mph-reported in Marshall, Chickasaw, and Calhoun Counties
  • Lightning struck a tree, igniting a fire in Chickasaw County
  • Widespread power outages in Webster County

At least 20 counties have reported wind damage across the state (Webster, Leflore, Humphreys, Tate, Neshoba, Winston, Grenada, Forrest, Sunflower, Bolivar, Carroll, Montgomery, Marshall, Pontotoc, Calhoun, Tishomingo, Washington, Chickasaw, Lamar, and Monroe Counties)
