The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office says one man was injured in an early-morning shooting near Daytona Beach Saturday. Gary Davidson, Volusia County Sheriff’s spokesperson, says the person who was shot was transported to Halifax Hospital and was reported to be in critical condition. The Sheriff’s Office says the shooting took place around 5 Saturday morning as a crowd was leaving Papi’s Bottle Club along North Nova Road between Jersey Avenue and 8th Street. Deputies in the area reported that they heard a fight start in the parking lot. As they came upon the scene, deputies heard a gunshot and then the crowd fled the area. The person who was shot was found in the street. After a few moments, deputies say more gunfire was heard about a half block away at North Nova Road and 8th Street. No other shooting victims were found, but the Sheriff’s Office says blood was discovered in the area. A preliminary investigation indicated that a fight had started inside the club near closing time, and the fight continued out into the parking lot as people left the club.
