When Nicki Minaj lost the wigs and the whimsical outfits, she didn’t loose money nor earning potential. According to Forbes’ annual list of Hip Hop’s highest earners, the Queen’s rapper comes in at #4 earning an estimated 29 million in 12 months, an amount almost double her income of 16.5 million from the previous year.
Where did her income come from? Outside earnings from hit singles and a judging position on American Idol, the singer obtained lucrative deals with Pepsi, Mac, OPI, and her own fragrance, which has done well in the states and overseas.
While Minaj trails behind list regulars like Jay Z, Dr. Dre, and Diddy, who topped the list, she did manage to top the man who discovered her, Lil Wayne by 13 million, Kanye West by 9 million, and label mate Drake by nearly 19 million.
Stay tuned for next years list as the female MC is transitioning into mogul status with her ownership in Myx Moscoto, a new fragrance, album, and her own clothing line, The Nicki Minaj Collection, set to debut in K Mart stores in late October.
