One of Andi Dorfman's 'Bachelorette' suitors could've had Emily Maynard

One of the men currently vying for Andi Dorfman's heart on "The Bachelorette" could have had another Bachelorette years ago. Wetpaint Entertainment reported on Wednesday, May 21, that JJ O'Brien, the man who showed up on the first night with a bow tie and who calls himself a "pantsapreneur," was actually pursued by the show's producers for several years.

According to a source, producers wanted JJ on the show for a long time. Specifically, they wanted him to meet the woman who arguably became one of the most popular stars of the show. “They really wanted him to be on Emily Maynard’s season!” said the source. As Emily's fans know, she didn't actually end up with her pick, Jef Holm, but is currently engaged to someone off the show.

Unfortunately, the source didn't explain how JJ got the attention of the producers or what exactly they love so much about him. Nor did the source specify what made JJ finally take the risk and go on national TV to find love. Unfortunately for Andi, the reason for JJ going on the show during her season may have more to do than just finding her irresistible.

A Life & Style article cite an insider who claims that JJ, who created the fashion line Hem House, went on the show simply to promote his business. “Soon everyone will know about his pants because he doesn't shut up about them," said the insider. Indeed, on the premiere episode, JJ couldn't help but show off one of his creations to Andi. While JJ's intentions are questionable, it's likely that he goes far in the competition since he's one of the ten men featured on the show's website.

JJ may not be the only guy who had ulterior motives. The source revealed that some of the guys on Andi Dorfman's season have already signed on and are preparing to film the spin-off "Bachelor in Paradise," which airs later this summer and is much like "Bachelor Pad" in its premise. Clearly, the indication is that some of the guys just competed for Andi in order to get reality TV fame. That certainly wouldn't be the first time that happened!
