For sure, go to One of a Kind Show and Sale at the Merchandise Mart this weekend to see and buy fine art and fine crafts. But leave time to sample the gourmet noshes at one end of the show which is on the 8th floor.
About 600 artists from across the United States and abroad are juried in to this prime art and craft show. Their works range from high end ceramics, paintings, glass and sculptures to affordable jewelry, prints and clever home décor items.
Just as much fun as browsing the booths is coming upon a unique holiday gift.
There must have been a lot of shoppers on Friday because the bags, located at the elevators on the show floor, were snapped up as fast as they the supply was replenished.
Not all the bags that traveled back down later merely contained art, however. Show goers were tasting and buying Brunkow Cheeses from Wisconsin’s Fayette Creamery and chocolate concoctions from several booths.
One of a Kind Show and Sale, which opened December 2, continues through December 5. Hours: 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Dec. 3, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Dec. 5. Tickets: General $12, seniors and students $9, children 12 and under free.
