On March 22, 2013, One Drop, the philanthropic organization created by Guy Laliberté, the founder of Cirque du Soleil, will hold “One Night for One Drop”, a special fundraising performance by artists from each of the seven Cirque du Soleil productions on the Las Vegas Strip. The event will take place at the “O” Theatre inside the Bellagio.
True to Cirque fashion, the performance will include awe-inspiring, heart-stopping acts woven together by the production’s director Krista Monson.
See video of rehearsals below.
“The concept of the show is to celebrate the earth as an artistic creation in its strength, vitality and fragility and to highlight water as the essence of life in the earth’s ecosystem,” Monson told examiner.com.
Besides the performance, there will be a silent auction. Items will include a one-of-a-kind couture gown by Roberto Cavalli created specifically for the evening and an original piece by Richard MacDonald, an artist known for his sculptures inspired by Cirque du Soleil.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go not only to the organization's worldwide programs, but to the Las Vegas Springs Preserve as well.
“One Night for One Drop” will be the grand finale to a week of charity by Cirque du Soleil, MGM Resorts and Treasure Island. During the week, each show will donate one night’s proceed to One Drop. The week will begin with the Run Away with Cirque du Soleil 5K Run and 1 Mile Run Walk.
