Drew Carey & His Improv All-Stars at MGM Grand Las Vegas
Stand-up comic, producer and writer Drew Carey, brings his award-winning talent to MGM Grand’s Hollywood Theatre. Carey is best known for his self-titled series “The Drew Carey Show,” the innovative improv show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” and for hosting the hit CBS television show “The New Price is Right.” Joining Carey and rounding out the cast of The Improv All Stars are the very talented: Ryan Stiles, Kathy Kinney, Chip Esten, Jeff Davis, Jonathan Mangum, and Julie Larson.
Carey opens the show with his hilarious stand-up comedy, poking fun at himself. He’s then joined onstage by his incredibly talented cast, for an unscripted, unrehearsed, no-holds-barred laugh-fest. These funny people perform unique comedic improvisation based on subject matter gathered from the suggestions of the live audience, and then transform the ideas into side-splitting vignettes.
Ryan Stiles and Kathy Kinney, veterans of “The Drew Carey Show” – who played Lewis and Mimi – lead this group of clever improvisational performers. Chip Esten, who you might recognize as Ray Henry from the HBO series “Big Love” is phenomenal. When he and Jeff Davis sing together it’s pure magic. Julie Larson, a producer and writer for “The Drew Carey Show” is doing what she should do: improv. Jonathan Mangum is fantastic as well and you’ll hang on his every word. It’s a brilliant cast. This group; they know funny. Sit back and enjoy a thoroughly entertaining show. You never know what to expect which makes it that much more fun.
Carey has appeared in several films, television series, music videos, a made-for-television film and a computer game. Carey also has starred in his own comedy special for Showtime, “Drew Carey: Human Cartoon” for which he won a Cable ACE Award for “Best Writing.” Other works include HBO’s “Mr. Vegas’ All-Night Party,” a performance at Showtime’s “Tenth Anniversary of the Montreal Comedy Festival,” the television movie musical “Geppetto,” and host of CBS’ “Power of 10.” Carey’s talents also have translated over to writing with his book Dirty Jokes and Beer: Stories of the Unrefined, a look at life from his unique and comical perspective.
