One more day to visit the Weleda “Honestly Natural, Truly Beautiful” Tour

Complimentary facials, hand massages, and neck/shoulder massages? You bet I was stoked to hear that Weleda’s Biodiesel truck was in town, and at one of my favorite places in the whole of San Francisco – the Embarcadero’s Justin Herman Plaza right across from the Ferry Building. Which is why this last Thursday morning, I rushed to Bart to check the tour out, take some pictures for a lovely slideshow for my readers, and meet Weleda Director of Marketing, Hamish Cook, to talk about skincare, ingredients, and science.

The interesting thing about Weleda is that it didn’t start as a beauty company in 1921. It started out as a pharmacy against Western medicine, with the belief that it is better for the body to heal and cure itself with the help of botanicals and natural organic products cultivated from the earth, rather than sticking a medicinal “band-aid”on the problem which will only temporarily relieve the symptoms and not much else. Hamish informed me about “Anthroposophy” which was Dr.Rudolph Steiner’s (Founder of Weleda) philosophy that the “mind and spirit as intrinsically linked to our world; all part of one holistic system.” From this concept grew a skincare line that aids in the treatment towards better, healthier, and more beneficial products that are not only created from high quality ingredients but are also homegrown in local, fair-trade, Biodynamic sustainable gardens all around Europe. Weleda has such a strong passion for a remedial wellbeing, rich in unrefined concoctions and it shows in every Weleda product. Each product has 100% certified-natural ingredients made from plants, fruits, nuts and seeds. They are wild-crafted, organic or biodynamic whenever possible, and never grown with any pesticides or chemicals.

While the Weleda is still offering there services and education until 6:00 pm today at Union Square, the last stop of the “Honestly Natural, Truly Beautiful” Biodiesel truck will be tomorrow in the Noe Valley at 24th St at Sanchez, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m – Extra plus: Aside from the fabulous free service, you’ll go home with a lovely stemmed flower of your choice!

Make a day of it and head on over there and be sure to follow them on twitter (@Weleda) and join their Facebook fanpage.
