Meteorological Winter ends on Thursday this week. So far, the winter here in Maryland has been a little chilly, but the snow stats are way below average. Officially at BWI, we have had about 5” of snow total…we typically get around 20” for the entire winter. In contrast, most of the country… from The Plains and Mid-West to the NE States…has had plenty of snow! Well, for all of you Snow Hounds in MD, the first week of March is looking rather interesting. A long wave trof will be in place over the weekend, keeping the temps below average. In addition, the European Model (my favorite long range model) is trying to develop a big coastal storm here in the Mid Atlantic by the middle of next week! So, maybe we’ll get one more chance at some snow here in MD before we turn the page into Spring.
