The brutal cold continues for one more day. The Grand Rapids National Weather Service continues the Wind Chill Warning for all of West Michigan until 7 AM Wednesday. Air temperatures dip into the single numbers and even below zero for morning low temperatures. Afternoon “highs” will only climb into the single numbers. A strong wind from the west forces wind chill readings down to -20° to -30°. The extreme cold and very short frostbite times caused many business and schools to close.
The heaviest snow has diminished but the lake effect snow showers continue. The Grand Rapids National Weather Service continues the Winter Weather Advisory for the two rows of counties closest to the lakeshore until 7 PM Tuesday. Expect a general 1 to 3 inches of fresh snow with the highest readings along the lakeshore. The wind will is very gusty from the west causing some blowing and drifting of the fresh snow.
More heavy snow will likely impact the state toward the end of the week.
