A Kansas man died after an accident in Flagler County Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP Office in Jacksonville says 57-year old George J. Kwasniak of Wichita, Kansas, was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler after the crash, but passed away from his injuries about an hour after the accident. A passenger in his vehicle, 58-year old Vicky Kwasniak, also of Wichita, was listed in critical condition at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. The driver of a second vehicle in the accident, 41-year old Colleen Renee Hess of Palm Coast, was listed in serious condition at Florida Hospital in Ormond Beach.

Troopers say Kwasniak was westbound and at the stop sign on 16th Road and A1A shortly before noon Saturday, and that the Hess vehicle was northbound on A1A. The FHP says Kwasniak, “for unknown reasons”, did not observe the Hess vehicle and “…attempted to make a left turn south onto State Road A1A.” Troopers say the Hess vehicle struck Kwasniak’s vehicle on the left side. Both drivers and the passenger had been wearing their seat belts, according to the FHP.
