One man army doing the real NorCal rescue work (Photos)

Stockton, CA: While high profile groups blog and collect cash in the name of rescuing, here is a story about how California rescue is really getting done.

Eileen McFall is a teacher who loves pit bulls. She heard of mass euthanasia at the Stockton pound and started rescuing on her own. Without huge PetSmart grants and government funding for high profile dogfighting cases, Eileen just began on her own saving one dog at a time.

Eileen says, "I have been researching and advocating for shelter reform in Stockton for most of a year now, and while my efforts and those of local Pups Rescue did get Stockton Police to investigate, the only changes so far have been cosmetic. I run several Facebook pages, my husband (a software engineer) created the website below, and we've gotten several news stories about the Stockton situation."

"Every time I have gone to the pound, though, I have ended up rescuing at least one, and usually more, dogs, all pit bulls. Most have had some special need, often severe demodex."

When hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars are being donated to the high profile 'in the news' groups, just as many if not more dogs are dying in California shelters.

Thanks to people like Eileen, a few are being saved, but while some of the big NorCal groups are living high and large with six digit salaries, Eileen and her husband are stretching the family budget to save a smattering of the thousands being killed in California shelters.

Eileen is asking for help. Please help her share the stories of some of the wonderful dogs she's pulled from the jaws of certain death at Stockton ACC.

There are others and still more who will die every day at this pound. Please consider helping out with a donation where the money is actually used to save dogs, not travel and for whopping mortgages in lush Northern California digs.
