According to the release, a 26-year-old man was shot in the shoulder at a duplex on the 40 block of Carolane Drive. The shooting occurred after another man was leaving the apartment, according to police’s preliminary investigation. When the door was opened, a man standing outside of the apartment shot into it, striking the 26-year-old in the shoulder.

Police, who were called about the shooting shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, said the victim was taken to the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where his injury was treated and he was released.

The release said the only description, available at this time, of the shooter is that he was a black man who was wearing a shirt tied around his face.
