One individual surrendered ten dogs, on the same day, to the Humane Society of Central Texas in Waco, Texas.
On Friday afternoon, the facility posted this update to their Facebook wall:
These shy dogs need a foster or rescue BY TOMORROW (Saturday). They aren't able to be moved up to adoption kennels, so we need to give them a second chance in a foster home! These dogs are just a little shy and need basic training. Won't you save a life today?
Fortunately, the facility has given the dogs more time than was initially suggested. In fact, prior to a late afternoon update, the dogs were said to have just 24 hours to live.
Late Friday afternoon, the following reprieve was noted:
UPDATE: The 10 fearful (non-leash trained) dogs will be given some time for further training. They will still not be moved to the adoption floor, but will not be euthanized today.
We still need fosters/rescues/adopters to step up for them. They would do much better in an home environment & we would like to see them get more one-on-one attention.
One person put ten lives in grave danger. Now, others are scrambling in an effort to secure rescue agencies and/or foster homes before the brief reprieve runs out.
