One-Eyed Doll dawned many hats at The Black Sheep, on Dec. 8. They were the main support. Public Display of Aggression, Ionia and Unsaid Fate were the opening acts. Mushroomhead was the headlining act.
Kimberly Freeman is the guitarist and vocalist and Junior is the drummer of One-Eyed Doll.
Prior to starting One-Eyed Doll’s recital with “Committed”—Junior struck every cymbal on his drum set, while he sat down. Then—he stood up and struck each one, as he walked the perimeter of his designated area. He was accompanied by Freeman, as she joked with those in attendance. She mentioned they were from Austin, Tex. Colo.
Before “Plumes of Death”, an audience member yelled and declared their love for her. She returned his kind gesture and told him she loved him too. Maintaining her sense of humor, she joked the song could be heard at corporate retailers and coffee shops. She also mentioned it was on several movie soundtracks including: “Titanic, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “The Passion of the Christ 3D”.
Freeman interacted with crowd, as she declared “Be My Friend” would be a sing along. After she sang the first few lines of the first verse, she waited for the crowd to sing it back to her. With the last set of bars, she assisted the crowd because it was a bit lengthier than what she had sung prior. She mentioned they had finished making a music video for the song and Mushroomhead were featured on it.
As Freeman had done prior with each song, she wore a new set of hats. This time she wore a cap suitable for the winter and it had the devil’s tale attached to the strings dangling on the side of her face. Then, she continued to put on a priest’s hat on top of it. She went onto ask the audience to pick a side, either to yell “Hail Satan” or “Amen”. The majority of the crowd shouted, “Hail Satan”.
“Monster” was the last song of One-Eyed Doll’s showcase. During the performance, she had her back facing the crowd and leaned back. The crowd carried her, as she strummed her guitar. She made her way back onto the stage and the crowd gave her back her guitar. Afterwards, she jumped off the stage and asked the crowd to follow her to the merchandise table.
“Break” was also part of One-Eyed Doll’s set.
