One Direction has now added another award to a growing collection of accolades: On January 26, 2013, One Direction won the prize for International Group or Duo of the Year at the NRJ Music Awards, held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.
The other nominees in the category were Coldplay, Carly Rae Jepsen & Owl City, and Maroon 5. The awards are voted on by the public.
The five members of One Direction (Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson) attended the ceremony. In an acceptance speech, Styles said, "I have to say massive thank you to our French fans. We wouldn't be here without you. Our French record label [is] absolutely amazing. We don't speak French. Obviously, we weren't born here. To be welcomed in this country is amazing, so thank you so much."
One Direction also performed "Kiss You" on the awards show.

Styles tweeted: "Thank you so much to @NRJhitmusiconly and our fans for the Award!! See you later."
Horan tweeted: "Thank you so much guys! For voting for us! Bed international group ! Thank you so much ! NRJ music awards."
One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010 and has since gone on to become the biggest global act to emerge from "The X Factor." The group has had No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in several countries.
One Direction's numerous awards include prizes from the 2012 Brit Awards, the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, the 2012 Teen Choice Awards, the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, the 2012 Bambi Awards, the 2012 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards and the 2013 People's Choice Awards.
Taylor Swift was also at the 2013 NRJ Music Awards, which was the first time that Swift and Styles were seen publicly in the same room since their breakup. Swift and Styles (who were nicknamed "Haylor" as a couple) briefly dated from mid-November 2012 to the first week in January 2013. Swift was at the awards show as a nominee and a performer and to present the award for French Female Artist of the Year. She sang her hit "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."
Although some tabloids predicted that Styles and Swift would reconcile at the awards show, an insider told the Sunday People that Haylor won't be getting back together: “Since he split with Taylor a few weeks ago, Harry has stayed away from women. Who knows what’s going on but there is no chance he and Taylor will get back together now. People keep on saying that when they meet up in Cannes they are bound to reignite their relationship, but that is hardly going to happen.”
Sources at the awards show have confirmed that Swift and Styles did not have contact and did not communicate with each other at the event.
The Sunday People published photos of an unidentified blonde woman who was seen leaving Styles' house on January 24, 2013, around 11 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time. A source told the tabloid that the young woman is a friend of the Styles family, and she is close to Styles' mother and sister: "Harry invited her around and said that they were talking about cars. The girl is a family friend and when Harry buys cars he tends to do it through her."
