Consumers can find the One Direction collection, in addition to a great selection of fresh and inspiring cards from American Greetings, at participating drug chains, grocery stores and mass retailers nationwide, as well as in American Greetings and Carlton Cards retail stores."
American Greetings director of product development Elizabeth McGrath commented in the press release, "We are thrilled to bring One Direction enthusiasts birthday wishes and friendly greetings from their favorite five guys. It is important to us to connect with consumers of all ages, and with the help of Harry, Liam, Louis, Niall and Zayn, we can do just that!"
One Direction is the biggest-selling worldwide act to emerge from "The X Factor." But the group doesn't make most of its millions through music sales. One Direction's fortune comes largely from touring and merchandising.
As previously reported, One Direction launched Little Things, a cosmetics brand through a partnership with MUA (Makeup Academy). The Little Things cosmetics went on sale at Superdrug stores in the U.K. on July 29, 2013. Each of the products is priced under £3 (under $4.60 each in U.S. dollars).
The Little Thing cosmetics include lip gloss, nail polish and lipstick.
As previously reported, One Direction has also has its own fragrance for females called Our Moment, which goes on sale at Harrods in London on Aug. 25, 2013, and everywhere else on Sept. 9, 2013.
One Direction has also teamed up with Office Dept for an anti-bullying campaign and to sell One Direction-branded school supplies and nail polish. The products went on sale in the U.S. in July 2013.

Zing Revolution, a MusicSkins brand, has an exclusive line of One Direction vinyl skins for consumer electronic devices (such as iPhones and iPads), credit card skins and more.
As previously reported, One Direction has teamed up with the Brush Buddies company to have One Direction singing toothbrushes that will go on sale outside of North America in January 2013. Each toothbrush features two One Direction songs: "What Makes You Beautiful" and "One Thing." Brush Buddies acquired the worldwide license (excluding North America) to produce singing toothbrushes utilizing the name, likeness and music of One Direction.
As previously reported, the Wish Factory has several One Direction novelty items that went on sale in September 2012, including key chains, dog tags, earrings, wristbands, dioramas and more. Most of the items are priced at $5 to $15 each in the United States. The Wish Factory also announced in a press release that the company "will also be producing a collection of 1D licensed products for the company's exclusive Pop Grrl brand, featuring hip and trendy fashion-forward must haves for girls' everyday self expression."
As previously reported, Global Merchandising Services (which represents One Direction worldwide) has inked licensing deals with several companies for One Direction merchandise items.

HarperCollins has a deal to sell official One Direction books, including calendars. One Direction's 2012 calendar was the the top-selling calendar on Amazon.co.uk in 2011. One Direction's 2013 calendar is also a bestseller.
In 2011, One Direction teamed up with Nokia to sell phones in the U.K. with exclusive One Direction ringtones and screensavers.
