August 7 – 10, 2013
One Direction, the U.K. pop act, formed on The X Factor in 2010, played four sold-out shows at Los Angeles' Staples Center from Wednesday, August 7 to Saturday, August 10. The British Band consists of five charming boys – Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson—who have taken over the globe one concert at a time. One Direction has become extremely popular especially among teenage girls and before all four of their concerts at the STAPLES Center, nearly the entire crowd arrived prior to the opening set from Australian pop-punk band 5 Seconds of Summer.
Many who attended one of the four STAPLES Center concerts have explained that inside the venue ears were pierced with the shrieking sound of One Direction fans as they screamed through the entire set. What separates One Direction from other boy bands is that they do not have choreographed dances like their predecessors. The boys are just themselves on stage.
Throughout all four performances One Direction’s fans were constantly singing, crying, laughing, and cheering for the boys, who melt their hearts. Though their talent is unsurpassed and their performances are unique, the fan’s love for One Direction has also largely contributed to the success of the band. Since One Direction first formed, they have arguably accomplished more in the three years of their existence than some acts have in their entire career.
Their shows at the STAPLES Center were unquestionably a huge success. It’s believed that not one person walked out disappointed by One Direction’s performances.
