As expected, One Direction's third album, "Midnight Memories," debuted at No. 1 in numerous countries. According to an announcement made by Sony Music on Dec. 4, 2013, "Midnight Memories" debuted at No. 1 in more than 26 countries including the U.K., the U.S., Canada, Australia, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Sweden, Turkey, Croatia, Czech Republic, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. "Midnight Memories" was No. 1 on iTunes in 97 countries, according to Sony Music.

Billboard announced that in the U.S., "Midnight Memories" (deluxe and standard editions) sold 546,000 copies in its first week.

One Direction (the world's biggest-selling act to emerge from "The X Factor") has set another Guinness world record by being the only British group to have its first three albums debut at No. 1 in the United States.

Meanwhile, One Direction is scheduled to make a second appearance as a musical guest on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on Dec. 7, 2013, the same day that tickets go on sale for the North American concerts of One Direction's 2014 "Where We Are" stadium tour. One Direction first appeared as a musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" in 2012.

In addition, highlights from One Direction's iHeartRadio album release party for "Midnight Memories" (which was originally Webcast on Yahoo!) will be broadcast in the U.S. on the CW network on Dec. 9, 2013, at 9 p.m. EST/PST, with a repeat shown on Dec. 25, 2013.
