On April 18, 2014, the music video for One Direction's single "You & I" premiered to mostly positive reactions from fans. The videos shows the five members of One Direction — Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson — walking on a pier, with visual effects such as morphing and stop-motion photography.

One Direction's Payne did a remix of the song, with a preview of the remix made available on Soundcloud. The remix is called "Big Payno Remix."

"You & I" is from One Direction's third album, "Midnight Memories," which debuted at No. 1 in numerous countries when the album was released in November 2013. The music video was directed by Ben Winston, who directed all of the other music videos so far from "Midnight Memories": "Best Song Ever," "Story of My Life" and "Midnight Memories."

One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010, and has since become the world's biggest-selling act to emerge from "The X Factor." One Direction was named the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI)'s Global Recording Artist of 2013, for being the biggest-selling artist in the world in 2013. According to IFPI, "Midnight Memories" was the world's best-selling release of 2013, with sales of four million copies worldwide.

One Direction's "Where We Are" world tour of stadiums launches on April 25, 2014. The tour has announced concerts in South America, Europe and North America.

The Daily Mirror reported what the members of One Direction did in their free time off before the tour: Styles played golf in California’s Palm Springs. Horan hung out in London strip clubs.
