On Jan. 21, 2014, the PBS series "Sesame Street" premiered a promotional video for One Direction's appearance on the show. In the video, One Direction has changed the lyrics to the hit "What Makes You Beautiful" and reworked it into a song called "What Makes 'U' Useful," as an instructional song about the letter "u" in the alphabet.

One Direction's "Sesame Street" appearance will be televised in 2014 on a date to be announced.

Meanwhile, One Direction's Niall Horan announced that he has had knee surgery. After The Sun published paparazzi photos of Horan on crutches, he tweeted on Jan. 17, 2014: "Hey guys I know most of you have seen those pics today! Yes I've had major knee surgery, a much larger surgery than first anticipated, but i would like to tell u, it was a complete success ! Considering the scale of it! So all I ask of you guys is that you would respect my privacy as I try to recover and get for the where we are tour!"

One Direction's "Where We Are" stadium world tour in 2014 launches on April 25 in Bogotá, Colombia. The tour has announced dates so far in Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand and North America. The fourth One Direction album is being planned for release in late 2014, on a date to be announced.

One Direction is the world's biggest-selling act from "The X Factor." The group came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010.
