Comments made by Harry Styles of One Direction that he thinks his group will be bigger than the Beatles and that he wants to be knighted by the Queen of England like Sir Paul McCartney were left on the cutting room floor of the documentary they were filming because they were considered too arrogant, the UK Express reported Aug. 25.
His remarks were made during the filming of One Direction's film “This Is Us,” being directed by Morgan Spurlock, known for his documentary “Supersize Me.”
“We could be as big as the Beatles. That would be amazing. I really believe we can become one of the biggest bands in history. I can see that happening and I want to get my knighthood too one day,” the paper quoted Styles.
“I don’t think Harry was kidding when he talked about becoming as big as the Beatles or becoming Sir Harry. He had a straight face and really meant them, but it was decided to cut (the remarks) out of the film,” a source at the studio quoted by the paper said. One of the reasons, the source said, was that they didn't want to risk offending the surviving Beatles.
Styles attended the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday in New York.
