As I first exclusively reported in October 2012, the members of "X Factor" U.K.boy band One Direction will have their own wax figures at the famed Madame Tussauds wax museum in several locations around the world. On March 11, 2013, Madame Tussauds announced the tour dates and cities for the One Direction wax figures.
The wax figures will be on a traveling exhibit that will be at these Madame Tussauds locations:
- London: April 18 to July 11, 2013
- New York City: July 19 to Oct. 11, 2013
- Sydney: Oct. 24, 2013 to Jan. 28, 2014
The members of One Direction are Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, who are all currently ages 19 to 21.
As previously reported, One Direction played a prank on fans in London by posing as Madame Tussauds wax statues of themselves in the ITV1 show "Surprise Surprise" in an episode that was televised on Nov. 18, 2012
In the episode, three One Direction fans --16-year-old Megan, her 15-year-old sister Bethan; and 11-year-old Hannah Stander -- "receive a very special surprise from chart toppers One Direction. The sister’s parents were forced to close their business and dramatically downsize their house due to financial constraints. The girls set up their own dance school in their local village to help their parents financially. Megan, Bethan and Hannah are huge One Direction fans," according to an ITV1 press release.
