One Direction's Liam Payne has moved on from his breakup with dancer Danielle Peazer and is now reportedly dating Sophia Smith, who used to go to school with him at St. Peter’s Collegiate School in their hometown of Wolverhampton, England. According to a Daily Mirror report published on Aug. 17, 2013, Payne is so smitten with Smith that he flew her out to Los Angeles to see some of One Direction concerts during the group's world tour. The couple has also been seen out on several other dates together.
According to the Daly Mirror, Payne and Smith have "recently been spotted partying at London’s Funky Buddha club. Last week Sophia flew out with Liam’s mum Karen, dad Geoff and sisters Nicola and Ruth to visit the star as he and his bandmates performed at LA’s Staples Centre for four sold out dates. Sophia was seen watching the show last Friday [Aug. 9, 2013] in the band’s VIP area, mingling with Little Mix popstar Perrie Edwards – dating Zayn Malik – and Louis Tomlinson’s girlfriend Eleanor Calder. Afterwards she went with him to a tattoo parlor."
A unnamed source close to Payne commented to the Daily Mirror about Smith: “She’s a sweet, normal girl who likes Liam for who he is, not because he’s in the most famous boy band in the world."
That fame is already having a negative effect on the attention that Smith is getting from jealous One Direction fans. The Daily Mirror reports that Smith's Twitter account has been bombarded with hateful messages and other harassment from these angry fans. Smith has also deleted several photos from her Instagram account in an apparent response to the haters.
The Sun reported that the relationship between Payne (who is 19) and Peazer (who is 24) ended for the same reasons why they split up for a few months in 2012: Payne's busy work schedule and fame with One Direction took a toll on the relationship.
Payne and Peazer met on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010, when he was a contestant on the show and she was a backup dancer. They began dating in late 2010, moved in together in mid-2012, broke up in September 2012, got back together in December 2012, and have apparently split up again.
Sources say that in the Payne/Peazer breakup in 2012, Peazer was the one who dumped Payne because of issues over his busy work schedule, loss of privacy and jealous fans' harassment of Peazer. Payne was "devastated" by the split and refused to publicly comment on the breakup for several days because he was hoping for a reconciliation with Peazer, according to sources.
After Payne and Peazer split in September 2012, he briefly and casually dated "The X Factor" U.K. 2006 winner Leona Lewis, 27. In December 2012, Payne went on Twitter to deny that he was dating Lewis, just days after Lewis publicly admitted in an interview with The Sun that she and Payne had been dating since he and Peazer broke up. It was around that time of Payne's Twitter denial that he and Peazer got back together. Lewis also reconciled with her dancer boyfriend Dennis Jauch, whom she has been dating since 2010, but they had split up in 2012 around the same period of time that Payne and Peazer had separated.
The Payne/Peazer breakup in 2013 is said to be more amicable than their split in 2012. A representative for One Direction commented to the Daily Mirror: "Liam and Danielle have split. It is all very amicable and the pair remain friends."
An unnamed source told The Sun: “They have been trying for months to make it work but it just hasn’t. They had a big chat last month and decided there wasn’t any point in dragging it out. Liam’s on tour until November and Danielle’s very busy, so they basically never see each other.
“It was extremely amicable though, which is good because there’s a strong chance Danielle will still be in the lads’ upcoming 3D film. The boys are still filming it and editing is going to go right down to the wire. But she’s been there for most of the filming so it’ll be tough to cut her out and Liam wouldn’t want that anyway.”
The 3-D documentary "One Direction: This Is Us" (directed by Oscar nominee Morgan Spurlock) is scheduled for a cinematic release in the U.K. on Aug. 29, 2013, and in the U.S. and Canada on Aug. 30, 2013. The movie's release date in other countries may vary.
As previously reported, girlfriends and other female paramours of One Direction are not in the movie.
In March 2013, Peazer and Payne adopted a Siberian husky named Loki, which they talked about in many messages posted on social media. It is unknown at this point who will get custody of the dog, but given that One Direction is on a world tour for most of 2013, Peazer will probably end up as the dog's primary caretaker.
