Not content to be the biggest band in the world, One Direction is reaching for the stars with the launch of its r highly anticipated fragrance, YOU & I. The music phenom debuted the scent at an exclusive press event at The London Hotel in New York. The unveiling marks the bands third headed for recording breaking fragrance after That Moment and Our Moment, which topped the charts as the fastest selling women‟s fragrances of last year.
YOU & I arrives on the fragrance stages of all leading retailers nationwide in a couple of weeks (Aug. 25). The band took time out from their „Where We Are‟, World Stadium Tour, to attend the launch event where they spoke about how hands on they have been in the development of the new fragrance – from scent tests to the bottle design.
“We love coming to New York, so it means a lot to us that we get to launch YOU & I here. As with Our Moment and That Moment, we worked hard creating the fragrance and making sure that YOU & I was different to anything we’ve done before. It’s not easy when you’ve got five different ideas on what smells and looks better – but I think that’s what makes the end result so special to us,” Liam Payne told the audience gathered at the event.
The fragrance is made up of top notes of mango, grapefruit,peach blossom with splashes of seasonal flowers, infused with an undertone of musk. Background notes of musk, indulgent praline and sandalwood blend to wrap the fragrance in smooth, seamless harmony. Perfumer Richard Herpin said, “The scent embodies that unique time between spring and summer when nature is in full bloom; when everything is at its peak. Juicy fruits and gourmand notes are paired with fresh florals in a way that is perfectly balanced, achieving a harmony much like the charismatic dynamic of One Direction.”
The fragrance makes an ideal gift with the striking angled glass bottle with a clear lilac overlay, outlined with an opulent gold line, giving the impression of a bottle within a bottle. The elongated cap echoes the bottle shape with a harmonizing lilac opaque covering. The ornate shape is complimented by the lilac coloured fragrance, and finished off with a detachable charm.
The precious golden charm, which can be worn separately, is lined with glittering ornaments and signed on one side with: ONE DIRECTION‟. The exclusive charm adds a chic touch to the bottle and gift to fans. The box showcases two images of each band member separated by a web of converging golden lines framing the name of the fragrance: „You & I‟. Strong monochrome images of each of the guys are shadowed by softer pictures, revealing a more intimate portrait of each.
