If you thought One Direction couldn’t top the amazingness that was the “Best Song Ever” music video, think again. A few days after the video accidentally leaked by VEVO in the U.K., the boys have really out done themselves this time with the new emotional video for “Story of My Life,” which was released on Sunday morning (November 3). The song is the second single from their upcoming third album, "Midnight Memories."
The video, which is directed by Ben Winston, is One Direction’s most personal and most emotional video to date. We see a different side to the boys we’ve never gotten to see before. The video starts out with the boys in a room processing family photos and eventually they sing in a giant hall full of photos from their life.
The best part of the video is the flashbacks with the families. The boys recreate old photographs with their families and it’s the coolest and most emotional thing about this video. The whole announcing the song with baby pictures thing makes a lot more sense now, doesn’t it? Honestly, if you don’t shed a tear especially at Louis’ part where he recreates his photo and his grandparents are gone, then I don’t know what to tell you.
One Direction has gone to a whole new level for them with this music video and really shows boy bands don’t need random girls in their videos to make them successful. This is their most mature, saddest, and, in my opinion, easily their best video to date. They really look like more than just a boy band in this video. They’ve come quite far from their “What Makes You Beautiful” days.
