It's Labor Day weekend at the movie theaters, gang, and the pickin's are slim - that is unless you are a female under the age of sixteen.
Two movies are vying for the tween demographic's hard-earned allowance and babysitting dollars - the concert doc One Direction: This Is Us and the Selena Gomez action-thriller Getaway which co-stars Ethan Hawke who is surely over twice the age of his leading, um, lady.
However, the Movie Gods are only smiling on one of these music-centric offerings and it ain't the one with the cool car.
As of this printing, Getaway has a 2% rating (as in percent of positive reviews versus negative) on RottenTomatoes.com's hallowed Tomatometer, a number which is fine for milk consumers but absolutely horrific for a movie. Think of it this way, as of now, Getaway has two percentage points more than you and you don't even have a movie opening this weekend.
For you trivia buffs out there, the all-time worst rating the Tomatometer has ever given out, according to TheWrap.com, is 0% and that dubious honor went to 2002's Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever which starred Lucy Liu and Antonio Banderas. If you've never heard of it, now you know why.
On the flip side, OD: This Is Us - which oddly enough features a cameo by The Greatest Filmmaker Alive Today (Martin Scorsese) - has so far received a 65% rating on RT.com which is considered "fresh" as opposed to rotten.
